Joy asked where my car was this morning, and I said Aaron dropped me off. She asked what we were doing, and I said he's getting my oil chnaged... and then he's taking me to my obgyn appointment after work. So she said aw, how sweet. hehe Aaron picked me up from work and we went over.
While sitting in the waiting room, we saw the cutest Japanese little girl. Her hair was curled and up in pigtails, and she was talking Japanese to her mom. Another less cute, more interesting group of people walked in a while after we had been sitting there. A large white pregnant lady and her two large white relatives walked in first. They were follwed in by a tiny black man with T-rex arms. (His fingertips ended where most elbows start). The large pregnant lady spoke, and we soon discovered she had either a speech or hearing impairment. Turns out T-rex was the baby daddy. It was a very strange pair.
Finally it was time for us to go in; about 40 min after I peed in a cup, 30 min after my appointment time, and after maybe 6 people who came in after me had gone in before me. We saw the NP first, who asked a bunch of questions about family history that pertained to the health of the baby and did the regular yearly exam stuff, i.e. my pap. Then the Dr. came in for the ultrasound.
It happend really quickly. She put the device in, and there it was, up on the screen in all its grey glowing glory: the little peanut. We could see the heart beating fast like humming bird wings. Dr. French pointed out the head and measured the peanut at a whopping 1.83cm. Aaron asked what a tiny white speck on the screen was, and she said it was the "brain mass." She said the baby is right on track in terms of size and development, and conceived exactly the day we thought it was- in Seattle. Expected due date is officially June 15, 2010. How crazy to see a picture of the little gummy bear sized human growing inside my ever enlarging uterus. I'm not gonna lie, it brought a few tears to my eyes.

Afterthought:
So, after my appointment, I was sent down to the lab to get some blood drawn (7 vials, to be exact!) and also for a urinalysis. Really? I just peed about 45 minutes ago and haven't had anything else to drink since then. I didn't have anything left! I now have to go back another day to pee in a cup. Awesome.
