It happened. Kaila's first time being sick. We're all sick. I've read that it's common at this age since her hands are constantly in her mouth. It's hard to see your little one struggle to breathe, but her disposition doesn't let on that she's sick. You can hear the bubbling in her nose and chest, and you can see how mucousy she is, and it's definitely hard to look at. She's been a trooper, though.
You can see the gross crusty formations in her nostrils
..but she's still a happy baby
her right eye is a little swollen in this picture, too
Kaila got sick over the weekend, right before her 4 month wellness check appointment on Monday. We decided to just stick through the weekend since it seemed like a cold, no fever, nothing to really ask doctor about. At the doctor, check up started with weight and height measurements. She was 25 3/4 inches which turned out to be 94th percentile and 16.15 Lbs (practically 17lbs!) which is 99th percentile!! We have a big little baby on our hands hehe She's proportionate, and growing along a consistent growth curve which is the important thing. Doctor affirmed that her cold wasn't too much to worry about.. she can't blow her nose or cough, so it may linger for a little while, but other than that, she'll be fine. We also asked if we could start giving her solids. She said that we could definitely try. If she seems interested, then we can keep it up. If she doesn't seem interested, hold off for 2 weeks and try again. Solids, right now, are more for practice than nutrition. We still haven't decided when we're gonna start her on solids, but we're excited that it might happen soon!
She also got the same four shots she got at her last appointment. This time I held her in my arms instead of Aaron having to hold her down on the table. The oral vaccine went off without a hitch. I was feeding her and stopped so the nurse could give her the vaccine. She took all of it without crying. When she was done, I started feeding her again. The nurse gave the first shot and Kaila didn't even flinch. Then she gave the second shot and Kaila must have realized what was going on, because she let out a wail. She cried for just a little bit longer, and then I finished feeding her. It was definitely a less painful experience this time than it was at her two month appointment.
Getting her length measurement taken
The nurse posed in the picture and said, "going on facebook!"
16.152 Lbs!!
Doctor listening to her heart and chest congestion (no fluid in her lungs, so that's good)
